August 12th 2007 05:09
On the topic of Russian Film Festival, Academia Rossica, an Arts Foundation based in London that aims to promote cultural links between Russian and the west is set to screen their very first Russian Film Festival begining September 27 to October 3 at the Apollo Theatre London UK.

With the Australian Festival running from Septmebr 6-16, by October I will have consumed enough vodka to last me until next years festivals. And who knows, there might be another russian festival around the corner in Moscow or maybe even New York. A festival on the Hudson with Robin Williams as one of the judges perhaps

With the Russian Film Festival returning once again for its fourth (4th) year touring Australia and presenting some of the finest Russian Cinema from past and present, including the epic War and Peace, winner of the best foreign film at the 1969 Academy Awards and at 505 minutes probably the greatest epic film ever made.

The 2007 program will feature ten of the best and finest new Russian films, including the highly anticipated Day Watch, sequel to the 2004 smash hit vampire fantasy Night Watch, and the internationally critically acclaimed and multi-award winning drama The Island. The black comedy Beat the Enemy looks at the swelling atrocities of the Stalin regime film as it follows the journey of a hastily assembled propaganda unit composed of exiled artists and actors in the waning months of the Second World War. From the sword and sorcery of Wolfhound to the heartbreaking war drama of Franz and Polina, to the modern day Moscow fast set of Heat, the Russian Resurrection Film Festival in 2007 certainly delivers

Well its about time we found a way to find out about our favourite festivals in a safe and simple blog. None of this checking out sites left right and centre in search of something that might be coming to a screen near you. I'll do my best to keep you up to date with what is happening worldwide and what is near you, but if by chance I do miss a festival you know of please let me know. I may have missed the launching pad of the next Antonioni or even the next Godard.

I will also try to give an editorial on festivals I have attended or festivals that are willing to allow me press credentials and details of what has been happening for them. Most festivals are more than willing. I have just attended three (3) festivals over the last two weeks, and am heading to another on the 23rd
