Cinema lovers and distinguished guests meet in Rouyn-Noranda from October’s last Saturday to the following Thursday for a true celebration of cinema. The Festival presents some 80 short, medium and feature length films from about twenty countries, some of which are making their world or North American premiere.

The Festival du cinéma international en Abitibi-Témiscamingue is a great event, a happy blend of festivalgoers, guests and journalists who take advantage of this unique cinematographic event which takes place in ROUYN-NORANDA a young and lively region located in Northwestern Quebec, some 640 kilometers away from Montreal

TOKYO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 07

Tokyo 07 is now underway with 16 films in total, consisting of fifteen films selected from more than 600 films and one recommended from the "Winds of Asia–Middle East" section, are screened during the Festival season. "Winds of Asia–Middle East makes it’s choice from films produced in Asia (including the Middle East) where one of it’s fine works are selected for screening. Each year ‘Windsof Asia – Middle East’ hopes that the chosen film not only helps to promote exchanges between the Japanese film industry. to make a contribution to the development of the Asian Film Industry

This year the organizers present a brand-new section that introduces new works mainly from Europe and America, which have been drawing worldwide attention. World Cinema will present works that have received critical acclaim at other film festivals worldwide as well as look at the latest works of distinguished directors

If you're in Asutralia, New Zealand, South America Asia, Africa prepare for the onlsaught. Europe and North America better start pulling out the winter woolies if you are going to venture out to see you favourites on the big screen

Eurasia Film Festival 0pening tonight

The 3rd International Eurasia Film Festival is underway in Andalya Turkey. Running for 10 days from the 19th to the 28th of October, EFF has an dazzling line that would equal any of the more prestigious festivals throughout the world. Among the guest celebrities of the 3rd International Eurasia Film Festival is The legendary French actress Jacqueline Bisset who has worked with prominent names such as John Huston, François Truffaut, George Cukor and Roman Polanski and has taken roles opposite stars such as Anthony Quinn, Linda Hamilton, Paul Newman, Leelee Sobieski and Candice Bergen.

Last night saw the Festival kick off in style with the UK premiere of Eastern Promises at the Odeon Leicester Square. But don’t regret if you missed it because there are plenty more treats in store over the next few days. Filmmakers and cast members will be in attendence to introduce their films and answer audience questions. Here’s a few ideas the organisers have suggested to wile away your autumn evening.

The Tokyo International Film Festival announced today Alan Ladd as the President of the Jury for the 20th Tokyo International Film Festival. (October 20- 28). Ladd has distinguished himeself over five decades as an innovative and groundbreaking producer. In 1973 Ladd took over the reins at 20th Century Fox and soonb commisioned George Lucas to begin work on the script for STAR WARS which is now a billion dollar industry in itself.

45th New York Film Festival

The New York Film Festival first held in 1962 is now in its 45th year is currently screening and with only 5 days left you had better be quick before you miss out on some of this years fantastic new releases.
While the festival doesn’t give out awards are given out but it can be a great boost to your film if it wins selection at the festival as this is one of the most prestigous festivals in the US and it is not unusual to find that many of the films selected do the global festival circuit as well.The festival is also known for its several sidebars, programs running concurrently with the main festival

15th RAINDANCE

The Raindance Film Festival has again had a bumper season with over 15,000 tickets sold over the 12 days of the festival. Over 180 films, special events and short film screenings and a masterclass with Michael Madsen of Reservoir Dogs fame as well as a live pitching session with Ewan McGregor all made for a incredible fortnight of cinema

Sunday the 7th saw all the awards handed out before the latest mind-blowing feature from Gus Van Sant, PARANOID PARK closed the festival. Many of those in attendance then moved on to Sound in Leicester Square to continue the celebration of another successful year for Raindance

HD FEST NEW YORK!

Only a couple of days until HD FEST in New York. This festival is quite awesome. I attended the festival in Sydney Australia a couple of years ago and while some of the films are not always the best stories, the quality is definitely there. Here is part of a press release I recieved. I didnt get to tell you about the London and Seoul dates, so sorry for those who live in the UK and Korea, but if you are in New York, definitely check it out!

BFI 51st London Film Festival

The Times BFI London Film Festival is dates have been set and will run from October 17 to November 1 2007. The festival is definitely the most highly regarded and anticipated film event in the UK’s cultural calendar, attracting leading international filmmakers, industry professionals and the media together with large public audiences to London for a two week showcase of the best cinema from around the world. The Times BFI London Film Festival is one of Europe’s largest non-competitive festivals. The 2006 edition welcomed 1,649 visiting international filmmakers and industry professionals as well as 900 press delegates from 51 countries.

The 51st Festival’s full programme includes 184 features and 133 shorts as well as a host of screen talks, masterclasses and live events
