TROPFEST TURNS SWEET SIXTEEN! (LINK)

February 20th 2008 06:12
As the sun reached its peak on Sunday 17th February the domain was already begin to fill in anticipation of the evening’s entertainment and while TROPJUNIOR screened over the hill the hordes continued to arrive in droves as the tantalizing aroma of sausages sizzling on the BBQ wafted through the air. After the initial banter between Hamish and Andy in Melbourne and the boys from the ABC’s Chaser in Sydney, it was once again time for a huge supporter of TROPFEST Adam Spencer to take to the stage and entertain the crowds gathering throughout Australia as far away as Perth and even to some remote regional areas in the country.

By 6pm the Domain was close to capacity as the finalist filmmakers for this years TROPFEST arrived for their red carpet photo call before separating briefly to field questions and interview requests as the dark clouds circled ominously overhead bringing back recollections of recent years when thunderstorms arrested the screenings before time

TROPFEST 08 to screen Feb 17

February 7th 2008 02:25
It's that time of year again when all of Australia gears up for their favourite Sunday film night and head off to the world's largest short filmfestival TROPFEST. This year the Tropfest Signature Item or TSI for those of us who have been fans of the festival over the last 15 years is the number 8(eight) changed suddenly after initially being announced as seven at last years festival. It looks like there might have been a little bit of a sponsorship problem with the TV stations thus the nuetral 8 was substituted very quickly to allow the filmmakers readying themselves for this years submissions to make the necessary adjustments.

The festival itself will be held on Sunday February 17 at the Domain in the centre of Sydney with the usual pre show entertainment and the red carpet entrances by the cream of Australian Film and Television and possibly a few overseas stars turning up to surprise us
