Rising Sun celebrates 50 films

Rising Sun Pictures (RSP) has increased its filmography to 52 features, with the recent awarding of a number of film contracts. Since its launch in 1995, RSP continues to provide world-class visual effects to feature film audiences through collaborations with studios in the US, the UK and Australia.

'My Winnipeg' tickets up for grabs Sydney FFest 08 (LINK)

Plug into the 55th Sydney Film Festival where the best new films from around the world come to Sydney. With red carpet galas, 135 Australian Premieres, special guests and a program packed with goodies, you'll want to be part of SFF this June. Highlights include the big screen versions of previous Sydney Festival events Lou Reed's Berlin and Eternity Man, as well as the inaugural SFF Official International Competition of 12 outstanding feature films.

SFF has three double passes up for grabs to see My Winnipeg, one of the entries in their Competition, on Wednesday June 11 at 10am. To enter, email your name and phone number to competition@sydneyfestival.or g.au with 'My Winnipeg' in the subject line by 5pm Friday May 30. Only winners will be contacted

Sydney Film Festival 2008 Announces Jury (LINK)

Direct from the Cannes Film Festival on May 19 was the announcement of the Jury President and two members of the five strong panel for this inaugural Official Competition. NSW Minister The Hon. Linda Burney MP announced that award-winning Australian director Gillian Armstrong will be Jury President and will be joined by Iranian director/writer/producer Majid Majidi and Hong Kong producer Nansun Shi. The final two jury members are yet to be announced.

Sydney Film Festival Executive Director Clare Stewart, said today from Cannes, “Gillian Armstrong, Majid Majidi and Nansun Shi are world-class filmmakers who bring a compelling range of sensibilities and expertise to the Jury, and who are well placed to reward audacious, cutting-edge and courageous filmmaking.”

SYDNEY FILM FESTIVAL READY TO ROLL.

At the recent launch of the 55th Sydney Film Festival at Customs House Circular Quay, Executive Director Clare Stewart proudly announced the program for this years festival which will play host to some of the worlds most renowned filmmakers alongside some of the finest film talent in Australia today.

With 16 World Premieres, 135 Australian Premieres and a plethora of red carpet galas throughout the 19 day festival held from June 4 -22 the festival programme has been divided into different categories so that festival goers can pick and choose between the numerous categories including WORLD VIEWS, RED HOT DOCS, KIDS’ FILMS, SOUND ON SCREEN AND APOCALYPSE AGAIN

2008 TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES ATTENDANCE (LINK)

The 2008 Tribeca Film Festival has been once again a massive hit with over 85% of tickets for festival events and screenings being snapped up by film enthusiasts accounting for more than double the estimation of Festival organisers. Over 400,000 people attended this years festival , which featured two “hubs” in Lower Manhattan and the Union Square area and ran from April 23 through May 4, screened 121 features and 79 short films from 41 countries.
