September 17th 2009 08:48
Don't miss two special showings of The Cove, the film that won this year's Sundance documentary audience award and Roger Ebert calls a "certain Oscar nominee," this Friday, September 18 at the Varsity Theatre at 6:00p and 8:20p.

Covert filmmaking turns The Cove into a gripping action-adventure thriller as former dolphin trainer Ric O'Barry - who captured and trained the five dolphins who played the title character in the international television sensation "Flipper" - has a radical change of heart and works to protect the mammals. The New York Times said the film "unfolds like a spy thriller" and calls his actions in defense of dolphins in a remote inlet in Japan, (the 'cove' of the film title), "one of the most audacious and perilous operations in the history of the conservation movement."
