If you want to see the latest Aussie offerings, here's whats on at the cinemas right now. The choices are fantastic from classical to comedy and a road movie with a twist. Ther's even a tearjerker or two and something in there for the family to watch together.

Nominations for the 2009 Prix Louis Delluc were announced at the weekend, including three films scheduled for Australian and New Zealand release by Palace Films: The French Kissers, Welcome and I'm Glad My Mother is Alive.

Riad Sattouf's debut feature The French Kissers has been nominated for the Louis Delluc prize for Best First Film. Premièring in the 2009 Cannes Film Festival Directors Fortnight, The French Kissers is a comedy about a pair of teens who are doing their best to get through adolescence, and the trials and tribulations of high school life, unscathed.

AFI Nominations(Aust)

The nominatons for this years Australian Film Industry Awards are in and in recognition of the high quality of films coming out of Australia over the past 12 months, the nominations list for best picture has been expanded from 4 to 6. But for some strange reason, the Australian Film Institute doesn't feel that the direction or the acting was a key component as none of the other categories were deemed worthy of the same distinction.

Doha Tribeca Film Festival Labs for Screenwriters and Directors Set to Launch in 2010 as aspiring Filmmakers in Doha and New York Begin Cross-Festival Exchange

The Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF) today announced plans for a sweeping, series of year-round educational programs that will dramatically expand on the Festival's existing efforts to discover and support emerging filmmakers and to build a film industry in Qatar over the long term. DTFF revealed details of the programs at a panel devoted to nine Qataris who created one-minute films this past summer as part of a DTFF workshop on the craft of filmmaking.

British Independant Film Festival Noms.

From Soho House in London where the nominations and jury members the 12th British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) were announced.

A record number of films were submitted this year, with the pre-selection committee viewing over 200 films. A highlight from the nominations is the very strong debut director category.

Thursday night saw the announcement of the 2009 If Awards at Sydneys Luna Park to end the first day of the SPAA (Screen Producers Associationof Australia) conference.

Samson and Delilah an unconventional love story set in outback Australia turned out to be the biggest success story of recent years taking home the top 5 Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress and Script as well as Best Music.

THIS WEEKEND - BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL.

Celebrating the humble bicycle in all its wheeled and wonderful forms, the festival travels to 37 cities worldwide and showcases global cycling culture through five days of art, music and film in Sydney.

The three-day film programme (Nov 13-15 at Chauvel) is the centerpiece of the festival, with brand new short and feature films from the US, Italy, France, Spain, UK, Canada, Japan and Switzerland. Over the years, the festival has featured the work of established artists such as Jorgen Leth, Mike Mills and Michel Gondry, as well as a host of talented newcomers, and 2009 is no different.
