2009 Channel 4 Pitch Announced!

What's the idea? Six contenders will compete in front of a panel of television executives, including Channel 4 Commissioning Editors. Everything from the candidates' CVs to their pitching skills will be under scrutiny. The prize: a 10-12 week placement to direct a half-hour film with a £50 000 budget for Channel 4's critically-acclaimed documentary new talent strand, 'First Cut.'
Who is eligible? You need to be a UK based experienced AP or an up-and-coming director, who has not yet received a Director credit on a network primetime documentary film.
The deadline for applications is FRIDAY 25th SEPTEMBER 2009. No late applications will be accepted. For an application form please email jbotting@channel4.co.uk
In their opening statement on the official festival site, organisers describe the festival as an opportunity to bring the international documentary family together to celebrate the art and business of documentary making for five intense days in November.
"Doc/Fest is a film festival, industry session programme and marketplace, offering pitching opportunities, controversial discussion panels and in-depth filmmaker masterclasses, as well as a wealth of inspirational documentary films from across the globe."
