2009 FILMINK AWARDS

March 12th 2009 06:20
The 2009 FILMINK Awards will be announced at the Australian Film Television and Radio Schools brand new complex deep in the heart of the Entertainment Quarter at Moore Park on Wednesday March 18 in what is for the first time an invitation only event for those involved within the industry itself.

While this may put some fans noses a little out of place, the organisers have gone to great pains to stress that the evening will be streamed live to anyone who has access to the internet. And as the celebrity invitees stroll down the red carpet at the beginning of the evening, fans will still be able to cheer for their own personal favourites outside.

As well as the awards presented on the evening, Erin Free and his team witll be launching their new webcast FILMINK TV which features an online 10 minutes TV show featuring exclusive interviews and reviews timed to coincide with the release each month oh their magazine. So all that you get to read about but this time in motion and online.

March 18 has also been sign posted for some exciting announcements for
the future of the awards, with new industry relevant prizes to be part
of the category roll call. And as from March 2010, the voting and the awards ceremony will be an online event, the actual centerpeice streamed live to your computer no matter where youo may find yourself in this ever shrinking world.

With the international celebrities in past years often unable to attend the ceremony due to other commitments, next years extravaganza will include

a complete package for film fans all the way from the red carpet arrivals, through to the nominations and messages from the nominees during the voting process and through to the announcements and the acceptance speeches coming from the winners onstage or in their production offices around the world.

Dov Kornits FILMINK’s publisher is looking forward to another attention-grabbing evening.

"The results from past FILMINK Awards have always been interesting,"says Dov. "A few years ago, Borat made the Top 5 in both the Best Film and Worst Film categories, whilst movies such as Atonement, Little Miss Sunshine and Crash have won Best Film over more critically acclaimed movies."

So stay tuned next Wednesday evening and find out who will be voted best and worst film of 2008. Will the public warm to the restrained success of AUSTRALIA or will they send it to the opposite end of the pole. If you want to be the first to know keep your calendar free and your internet logged on.
