I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS trailer

March 12th 2010 00:42
The new trailer for what would have probably garnered Jim Carrey an Oscar nod had it not been for delayed release dates is now out. Will the fact that it is coming out not long after this years awards mean that everyone will have forgotten about the great performances by Carey and McGregor when it comes to nominations next year?

I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS is the improbable but true story of a spectacularly charismatic conman’s journey from small-town businessman to flamboyant white-collar criminal, who repeatedly finds himself in trouble with the law and on the lam, brilliantly escaping from the Texas prison system on four separate occasions – all in the name of love.

March 7th 2010 23:12
Is that the time? Where did the last twelve months go? Once again its Oscar© time and the stars have all donned their Armani suits or borrowed their Valentino dresses for the big evening.

Everyone knows who will win. These days it is so rare to find an upset in almost any category (the last time was CRASH (2005) beating BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN for Best Picture) that we tune in to see whether the hosts fall flat on their face or to watch the winners make a weepy acceptance speech that at times can be more horrifying to watch than a rerun of TITANIC on Saturday night free to air.

Lets act as if we didn't know that behind the scenes around OSCAR time, studios and their ilk will do anything to talk up the chances of their film, while simultaneously subtly deriding the opposition. Well Hollywood has had enough and is taking a stand. But do we really care. Surely those voting are smart enough to make up their own minds and vote accordingly. Its not like the 30's when the studios all got together and worked out which of their films, directors and actors would win that year.
