Ready, set...Go! Entries are now open for the 2010 Samsung Mobile AFI Awards in all categories: Feature Film, Television, Documentary, Short Fiction Film, Short Animation and Screen Content Innovation. If youre a producer of screen content, now’s the time to check out the entry forms, deadlines and eligibility criteria. All the information you’ll need is on the Awards section of the AFI website www.afi.org.au and the Awards Department are looking forward to receiving your precious packages over the coming months.
In one of the more exciting developments this year, thanks to the generosity of our naming rights sponsor, the Samsung Mobile AFI Award for Screen Content Innovation will now carry a cash prize of $20,000. The award was inaugurated last year at the AFI Outstanding Achievement Dinner in August, where it was presented to the ABC’s interactive website project Gallipoli: The First Day. We're eagerly anticipating some amazing and creative entries in this new category that's devoted specifically to innovative new media projects.
Juries of industry professionals form an essential role in determining the nominees, and in some instances, winners of the AFI Awards, and jurors are now invited to express interest in taking part of this prestigious peer review process. If you’re an AFI member with professional film or television credits, you’re eligible to become an AFI juror. If you’re a member of another screen industry guild, we encourage you to consider taking part in the AFI Awards by becoming a member. For more information on becoming a juror, please click here (http://www.afi.org.au/juror) .
Finally, all of us at the AFI would like to wish you a wonderful, safe and chocolaty Easter. And to celebrate the occasion, why not log on to AFI TV to see our first featured documentary Frohe Osteren! [Happy Easter] a film about family, tradition and friendship.
