Amnesia

An article in the newsletter from raindance caught my attention tonight. As a fan of Kenneth Branagh who I don't seem to see on the screen as often as I think he should be has a new film about to be released. Please don't compare him with greats of yesteryear like Olivier ( who may have been a great stage actor, but I personally dont think a great film actor - too melodramatic) or Ralph Richardson or John Geilgud. Branagh has his own style and should be recognised accordingly.
The Oscar nominee actor and director Kenneth Branagh best known for his rendition of the Shakespeare inspired films -Henry V and Hamlet, stands center stage at Raindance this week.
Although born in Ireland, Branagh relocated at an early age to Reading, Berkshire and quickly picked up an English accent. A younger Branagh was once a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company but left and formed the Renaissance Theatre Company. He also wrote the screenplay Hamlet (1996) that he directed and acted in.
Among all his achievements, he also won the Critic's Circle award for best male performance in the revival of Anton Chekhov's Ivanov. This actor, director, writer seems to have covered all fields of the performing arts and we can't wait to see what's next!
If you have the chance please get to see the film. The man is a tue talent that deserves every accolade he receives. Enough now, go watch the movie.
