Taylor Made.
Aussie actress Rachael Taylor is making the most of her move to the US after scoring the lead female role opposite Joshua Jackson in ‘Shutter’ (US remake of the Thai film of the same name).
After her soapie career was put on hold after the cancellation of ‘Headland’ the failed ‘Home and Away’ spin-off, Taylor decied to take the bull by the horns and headed off to tinseltown to try her luck. It wasn’t long before she landed a part in ‘Transformers’ which although critically panned was the beginning of getting her name out there where it is most essential on the screen. She then followed it up in ‘The Tourist’ opposite Ethan Hawke and Michelle Williams and it is noticeably apparent that Taylor is making a name for herself in Hollywood.
After completing horror film ‘Man-Thing’ in 2005 it wasn’t long before she was snapped up again this time to star in ‘Shutter’, a film that explores the lives of newlyweds who find that ghostly images intermingle with them in their honeymoon pictures. Yet despite the fact that the movie continues Hollywood’s obsession with special effects, Taylor admits that the hardest thing she found about the shoot was the language barriers she encountered in her day to day dealings as the film was shot primarily in Japan.
‘I actually felt like a ghost in Tokyo. The journey my character goes on in the film is a lot like that. She has to figure what’s real and what’s not.
It may be a long way from Launceston, Tasmania, but Taylor is definitely making a name for herself in the States
