Australian Short Film Today' in New York, Calgary and Toronto.
AFTRS shorts are having a run of success being selected for a variety of North American festivals. Sosefina directed by Tresa Ponnor (Directing, 2009) and The Love Song of Iskra Prufrock directed by Lucy Gaffy (Directing, 2009), and Liebermans in the Sky directed by Richard Vilensky (Directing, 2008) all selected to screen as part of the "Australian Short Film Today" annual showcase held by The Asia Society, New York.
The BE Film Festival also in New York, is screening Four directed by Erin White (Directing, 2008).
While in Canada, the Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival in Calgary is screening Undressing Vanessa directed by Matthew Pond (Documentary, 2007) and the Inside Out GLBT Film & Video Festival in Toronto is screening Paradise directed by Mark Robinson (Directing, 2006) and Rope Burn directed by Melvin Montalban (Directing, 2008).
Screen Music graduate Benjamin Speed and Metropolis RESCORE
As part of the Sydney Opera House's new monthly Sunday afternoon series of events SCREEN LIVE, one of cinema's legendary masterpieces; Fritz Lang's 1927 Sci-Fi epic Metropolis, has been fully restored using the latest digital technology and fully rescored by The New Pollutants: Mister Speed & DJ Tr!p - AFTRS graduate Benjamin Speed (Screen Music 2008) and Tyson Hopprich - featuring vocalist Astrid Pill and cello genius Zoe Barry.
The New Pollutants score for the film was completed in 2005 thus preceding the newly released restoration of the film from a print found in the Museo del Cine (film museum) in Buenos Aires, Argentina and recently screened on February 12 at the Berlin Film Festival

In November 2009 Turner Classic Movies announced its first ever Classic Film Festival, to be held in Hollywood April 22–25, 2010. Included in the festival will be the North American premiere of the newly restored version of the film
