Australias French Film Festival ready for 08

February 4th 2008 06:40
Now in its 19th sensational year, Australia¹s Œgrand dame¹ of Gallic culture
will feature a staggering 38 films within its 2008 program, encompassing 34
feature films and 4 documentaries, 36 of which will be making their
Australian premiere. 2008 also marks the first time that Tefal, the
world-leader in non-stick cookware, will be the Festival¹s major sponsor.

In 2007, the Festival attracted nearly 70,000 attendees who flocked to the
event¹s 333 sessions. The 2008 event, which features a greatly expanded
program and more venues, looks set to break all previous attendance figures.

And with almost 80% of the 2007 audience consisting of Australian viewers,
it proves that French cinema has an appeal that reaches far beyond that
country¹s local community.

Boasting the Œcrème de la crème¹ of contemporary French cinema and France¹s
finest actors, including Catherine Deneuve, Sophie Marceau, Patrick Bruel,
Cécile de France, Daniel Auteuil, Thierry Lhermitte, Albert Dupontel,
Isabelle Carré, Sergi Lopez, Beatrice Dalle, Sandrine Bonnaire, Vincent
Lindon, Nathalie Baye, Christian Clavier and Catherine Frot, the Festival
will be launched by a gala screening of director Cedric Klapisch¹s new
drama, PARIS, starring Romain Duris and Juliette Binoche, the mesmerizing
tale of a man who rediscovers the joy of life¹s minutiae when faced with
sudden illness, screening courtesy of Icon Film Distribution.
