Brian Cox in 'The Escapist' screening.

July 1st 2009 03:48

are pleased to announce their next film screening event. Starring award winning British actor, Brian Cox, The Escapist is a gritty new take on the well worn prison break genre. Following the screening, the audience will have a direct line to Brian Cox on the phone from New York. The BAFTA and Emmy award winning performer has an impressive list of credits including Troy, Adaptation, Braveheart and The Bourne Supremacy.

This one off screening will be held on Wednesday 8 July at Greater Union Bondi Junction and tickets are now on sale at www.popcorntaxi.com.au

Serving a life sentence in a maximum-security jail, it seems unlikely Frank Perry will ever see the outside world again. When his estranged daughter becomes ill, Perry hatches an escape plan in a bid to make peace with her before it is too late.

BAFTA and Emmy award winning Scottish actor Brian Cox plays Frank Perry, a role written
specifically for the established performer. Known as one of the best character actors in the business, Cox singles out The Escapist as a career highlight.

Set within a dark and gritty low-tech prison; the tunnels, sewers and underground rivers of subterranean London, director Rupert Wyatt weaves together two separate time lines; the escape and the planning of it. Perry enlists the services of a mismatched crew of crims including Lenny (Ralph Fiennes), Brodie (Liam Cunningham), Viv Batista (Seu Jorge) and his new cellmate James Lacey (Dominic Cooper).

Following the film, the audience will take part in an exclusive question and answer session with multi award-winning actor Brian Cox, down the line live from New York. Cox is the star of such films as Xmen 2, Troy, Adaptation, Red Eye, Braveheart, The Bourne Supremacy and the original Hannibal Lecter in Michael Mann's Manhunter.

"At last, a British crime movie that's as good as its pitch sounds: Brian Cox trying to
break out of prison. Do you need to know any more to want to see it?"
Kim Newman, Empire Magazine
