BYRON BAY FF blasts off!
March 6th 2010 14:14
The 2010 Byron Bay International Film Festival (BBFF) nine-day extravaganza of film is an event not to be missed.
Featuring a host of Australian Premieres, Gala Red Carpet parties, Q&A sessions, family-friendly film sessions, free filmmaking workshops, a free experimental theatre and prices to regular sessions which start from just $6.50 there really is something for everyone.
With a hugely successful opening night, there are a limited number of Closing Night tickets available from the Byron Community Centre. As well as some of the best films from our festival these tickets include some very special entertainment and the essential finale at the after party. This is your chance to walk the red carpet just like a VIP.
If you're thinking of visiting Byron for BBFF2010 check out the great festival deals for every budget being offered by local hotels in our Plan Your Stay section.
With this year’s inclusion of a celebration of 100 years of cinema being screened in Byron Bay, BBFF will also offer its audience a window into Byron’s history and the characters who have contributed to making this place what it is.
The official website describes the ideals behind the festival:
"BBFF’s goal is to preserve the unique spirit of Byron Bay and the surrounding area within the festival itself as the films we screen reflect our local community values. We do this by maintaining a strong emphasis on social and environmental issues, human rights, diversity and multiculturalism, creativity, indigenous culture, spirit, healing, connecting to nature, conscious thinking and positive living, music of every variety, colourful characters, humour and, of course Byron's favourite past-time, surfing"
Byron Bay plays host to some of Australia’s most successful festivals and provides a unique environment for creative arts to be nurtured and celebrated. A platform for independent filmmakers locally, nationally and from around the world, this festival event offers a global view set within the relaxed atmosphere of a beautiful coastal community.
