The Canada International Film Festival brings the best of world cinema to Canada and plays an important role in maintaining and further enriching its film culture accepting films and screenplays of any type, in any genre.
Come celebrate and share your passion for independent film. The Canada International Film Festival has firmly established itself among the top film festivals in Canada. Held each year in the beautiful and cosmopolitan city of Vancouver, British Columbia, the festival brings the very best of world cinema to Canada from over 90 countries around the world.
The 2010 Canada International Film Festival will be held Friday, February 19th through Sunday, February 21st, 2010 in the heart of Vancouver. This year's Festival Program will showcase a wide variety of North American and International Feature Films to thought-provoking Shorts,
Documentaries, Music Videos, Animations, Experimental Films, Student Films, a Screenplay Competition, and more.
Each year the Canada International Film Festival awards prizes in several competitive categories to celebrate and recognize outstanding achievement in filmmaking, writing and acting as selected by our Official Jury.
In addition to the juried awards, the festival also presents an annual Audience Award to the film
with the highest rating as determined by festival audiences.
Cash prizes are awarded for the Grand Jury Prize, presented to the best film in competition among all categories, and the top three finalists in the Write Brothers Screenplay Competition.
Screenplay Competition
The Write Brothers® Screenplay Competition, in partnership with the Canada International Film Festival, was created to discover emerging independent writers and talented, new voices in scriptwriting. Over $6,000 in cash and prizes will be given away to the Winners and Finalists of this year's competition.
12 selected Official Competition Finalists and 3 Top Winners will be announced at the Canada International Film Festival Awards Ceremony.
