November 21st 2008 04:41
As we approach the beginning of the major awards season with the Golden Globes, BAFTAs and Academy Awards ceremonies, Cannes is also gearing up as they begin to prepare their line-up for the 2009 Festival and Awards ceremony. Scouts are now packing their bags (that is if the ever get the chance to unpack) and heading off to all corners of the earth in search of original and eye-catching films.
Christian Jeune, Deputy General Delegate and Australian scout for Cannes Official Selection (In Competition, Out of Competition and Un Certain Regard) will return to Australia in early December 2008.
Mr Jeune will be in Australia to view new feature films that meet the selection criteria for potential preselection for the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.
Filmmakers with a feature film that they would like Mr Jeune to view should first check eligibility on the Cannes Film Festival website before contacting Screen Australia: Cannes Festival
Deadline to Screen Australia for eligible feature films: Friday 28 November 2008.
Filmmakers with eligible shorts and documentaries are encouraged to submit their films directly to the festival.
The Screen Australia website provides a screening history of Australian films at Cannes, plus other festival information to assist filmmakers in preparing their marketing plans. See: <a Really Long Link ScreenAustralia</a>
