Topics include:
HOW TO GAIN PAID WORK IN THE INDUSTRY?
The crew of /Wolf Creek/ probably didn’t find their jobs advertised in the local newspaper. Presented by Metro Screen Network Coordinator, Michael Chrisoulakis, this session will point you in the right direction on who to contact and how to find them.
WORKING AS A FREELANCER.
Monica Davidson [founder of the highly successful business/Freelance Success/] will introduce you to the world of working freelance. Do you need an ABN? Should you charge GST? What to expect and what to prepare for.
QUALIFICATIONS VS. EXPERIENCE – HOW DOES TRAINING FIT?
On the job training, or a piece of paper? Is up-skilling necessary? Which fields are short on skilled people and how can training evolve to accommodate the industries needs and your wants? With recentstatistics claiming 49% of all jobs in TV are in NSW (Source: DSRD 2009, NSW Creative Industry Insights) now is the time to find out how training and education can fit into your career.
THE ART OF SELLING YOURSELF.
From showreels to websites to CVs to business cards and what to wear to the meeting – as with any job, impressing a potential employer can make or break an opportunity. This session will arm you with the knowledge to make sure your application gets more than a second look.
MANAGEMENT AND REPRESENTATION.
Do you approach an agent or management company or do they ‘discover you’? What are they looking for in a client and what can they do for your career? This session will shed light on this often-confusing aspect of the industry. Presented by Stephen Bennett [Bennett Artist Management].
