ENCOUNTERS AT THE END OF THE WORLD

Werner Herzog to screen at Ashland Film Festival

Two special showings of Werner Herzog's documentary Encounters at the End of the World at the Varsity Theatre Friday, October 17 at 6:00p and 8:30p will continue the ashland independent film festival's monthly film Series.

In this visually stunning exploration, the acclaimed director of Grizzly Man and Rescue Dawn travels to the Antarctic headquarters of the National Science Foundation and home to 1100 people during the austral summer. His examination of human nature and Mother Nature juxtaposes breathtaking locations with the profound and surreal experiences of the marine biologists, physicists, plumbers, and truck drivers who choose to form a society as far away as one can get.

Tickets are discounted 25% for AIFF members and available at the Varsity Theatre Box Office. The screenings continue a monthly series of Southern Oregon premieres and encores of film festival favorites showing on selected Fridays through November and, thanks to Coming Attractions Theatres, will benefit the AIFF.
