FLICKERFEST #17 almost here!

Flickerfest -- Well its only three weeks to go till kick off for the 17th Flickerfest, Australia's premier international short film festival, screening a feast of global cinema under the summer stars by the beach at Bondi.
This years programme promises to be another exceptional mix of cultures and creativity, all battling it out for a number of prestigious prizes, in what promises to be their toughest competition yet. The 85 films selected for our 4 Australian, 5 international and 2 Documentary competitions are all now listed on the new look Flickerfest website where you can also download the new Flickerfest trailer.
The crew at FLICKERFEST are very pleased to be able to present such an exceptional programme at Flickerfest this year. The creativity, skills and passion of this year's filmmakers proves that short film is leading the way in independent cinema today.The amount of high-quality work submitted from a diverse range of filmmakers around the globe made the job of deciding the final films in competition extremely difficult. Bronwynn Kidd the festival director sends her congratulations to all of the filmmakers who have made it into this year's competition.

Apart from their competitive programmes of the Best of the worlds shorts, Flickerfest is also excited to present a number of showcase programmes including 'The Bold The Brave and The Best- 30 Years Of Australian Animation', 'Bad Girls' a hilarious look at Girls Behaving badly on Screen and Cinema 16 a showcase of classic shorts from the worlds leading film
makers.
This year heading our workshop programme will be the very talented Australian documentary director Anna Broinowski who will discuss her approach to film making as illustrated by her body of work, including her recently AFI awarded documentary 'Forbidden Lies.Also joining the festival for another behind the screen film workshop, 'Editing The Craft', is Jason Ballentine who's editing skills on the feature films Wolf Creek and Rogue has recently scared the life out of many a filmgoer.
The Flickerfest feast of global cinema will kick off on the 4th of January with a glamorous opening night party and screening of our International 1programme of International shorts in competition.
