A year on from the launch of the Documentary Australia Foundation, and with funds for the low-budget sector increasingly scarce, we look at the place of philanthropy in documentary production, its role as a branding tool and the potential for crossover into drama.

Ian Darling: producer and co-director of the AFI award winning documentary The Oasis, and Chair of Documentary Australia.
