Golden Horse Festival Nominations announced

Due to a Mainland Chinese film that has withdrawn from the competition, there have been inadequate nominated films for the award ceremony. The committee then met up with the member of the preliminary jury, and decided to promptly add nominees to the list.
The State Administration of Radio Film and Television in Mainland China has initiated film submissions to The Golden Horse Awards. However, this year, it was restricted to only co-production films. The State has declared that they will have a serious consideration for all Mainland Chinese films to join the Award next year.
This is not the first time that films from Mainland China have withdrawn from the Award. However, there were four categories that were gravely influenced by this action. Members of the committee all believe in one principle for the award: “For more excellent films to be seen, and have the opportunity to join the final competition”. .
The film that has withdrawn from the competition that is fully funded by China and consequently affected the award categories: Best Picture “Tuya’s Marriage”, Best Director (Yang Li and Quanan Wang), Best Actress (Yu Nan), and Best Original Screenplay (Tuya’s
The Competition includes categories for Best Picture, Best Short Film, Best Documentary as well as Best Animation. Individual Awards are given for Best Director, Best Leading Actor/Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best New Performer, Best Original Screenplay, Best Screenplay Adaptation, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects, Best Art Direction, Best Make Up & Costume Design, Best Action Choreography, Best Original Film Score, Best Original Film Song, Best Editing and Best Sound Effects. Special awards include Best Taiwanese Film of the Year and Best Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year. A non-competition award is given to the Audience Choice Award.
