Movie Extra Tropfest is pleased to announce a record number of over 1000 entries submitted in 2010 for Movie Extra Tropfest, Trop Jr and MAX TROPSCORE. Deadline day alone witnessed over 400 entries come in for Movie Extra Tropfest and Trop Jr.

The overall entries breakdown showed over 600 entries for Movie Extra Tropfest, close to 180 entries for Trop Jr and over 180 entries for MAX TROPSCORE. Entries into the 2010 competition came in from all over Australia and as far as the US, France, South Africa, Vietnam, Philippines and London.

John Polson will select a finalist line up of 16 short films for Movie Extra Tropfest and Trop Jr to screen at the festival on Sunday 21 February 2010. Finalists will receive the largest premiere a short film can receive anywhere in the world!

The festival will deliver an exciting day of entertainment led by festival host, Adam Spencer and live performances by the Hoodoo Gurus and Whitley.

Finalists of Movie Extra Tropfest 2010 will compete for a total prize pack valued at over $150,000 including cash, filmmaking equipment and credit to use at film related studios.


The winner of the new 2010 category, Telstra Mobile Masterpieces will receive $5000 cash; a Telstra Next GTM Mobile phone; 12 month subscription to BigPond® DVD Rentals; 12 month subscription to the Sydney Morning Herald; 12 month subscription to Filmink magazine and a chance to participate on a TV commercial Shoot with leading advertising agency, Belgiovane Williams Mackay.

Movie Extra Tropfest is a free, public event screened live from the Domain, Sydney via simultaneous satellite broadcast to live sites in major cities across Australia and live to all Subscription TV viewers of the Movie Extra channel on FOXTEL & AUSTAR.

Head to your nearest venue for a day of entertainment, music and short films under the stars!
