March 7th 2009 04:09
EMAIL just received. You still have a week or so to get those entries in!!
To allow for last minute entries, Jameson have extended the deadline for the John Jameson Productions short screenplay competition to Monday 16th March.
So, if you’ve got an idea for a three-minute short film with an ‘unexpected ending’, and you haven’t written it yet, get cracking! You only need to write a summary of the idea in less than 200 words then submit it online for a chance to get your own short film produced with a $20,000 budget.
You can view last year's winning entries in the forum to see how easy it is to enter.

John Jameson Productions FAQ's
Do I have to be a screenwriter to enter?
Absolutely not! No experience necessary, just a good idea with an unexpected ending in less than 200 words. Oh, and you must be over 18, but you shouldn't be here if you're not!
What is not acceptable?
Although JJP wants to give you as much creative flexibility as possible, all alcohol projects in Australia are governed by a strict but sensible code. As a result there are certain things you need to steer clear of for your idea to be short-listed. You cannot feature a lead acting role under the age of 18. Under-age drinking or anything to do with glamorizing alcohol consumption will not be short-listed. Similarly, we want these films to be acceptable to the general 18 audience, so anything X or R rated, or with excessive violence or unacceptable language will not get through.
Who is judging the ideas?
There are two rounds of judging. The initial 200 word entries will be read by a group of professional script-readers, writers, directors or producers. They will gradually get the list down to a shortlist of 40 and then pick 6 finalists. The final six screenplays will be judged by a panel of well-known industry professionals. We are just getting this group together so we'll let you know who they are shortly.
