August 2nd 2008 04:29
Link: www.metroscreen.org.au
The Metro Screen Networkšs August event.
Tuesday August 5th at 6.30pm.
$10 non-members
Your entire crew are volunteers so they donšt need to sign a contract,
right? Wrong.
That tune on the Mozart CD is so old it must be copyright free, right?
Wrong.
Your volunteer PA staples their finger to a call sheet they are
responsible for medical costs, right? Wrong.
For the duration of your shoot (pre to post), the set, office or edit suite
becomes a place of work. As with any place of work, you have certain rights
and responsibilities to your cast and crew.
Imagine your film never seeing the light of day because you didnšt get a
signed release form OR your chance to screen at a big festival or TV run is
ruined because you donšt have the correct music copyright? This can and has
happened!
A panel of film industry representatives will discuss and enlighten you to
the legal side of filmmaking. From permissions, release forms, contracts,
copyright and insurances.
If youšre serious about taking filmmaking seriously, then this industry
panel is a must.
Panellists will represent various areas of this often neglected but
essential aspect of the filmmaking process, including; fellow filmmakers
sharing their experiences, legal experts, insurance company representatives
and music copyright gurus. A Q&A session is also included.
