Local film-maker's documentary Umoja at Sandfly.
November 5th 2011 04:10
SANDFLY festival is holding a very special screening event of local South Coast film-maker Elizabeth Tadic's amazing documentary Umoja: No Men Allowed. It tells the life-changing story of a group of impoverished tribal Samburu women in Northern Kenya who reclaim their lives, turning age-old patriarchy on its head when they set up a women’s only village. It is a rare film that manages to be both amusing and challenging at the same time. The screening will now open the festival at 3:10pm on Saturday November 12th 2011 at the Huskisson Picture Theatre. Liz will be on hand to introduce her film and conduct a short Q & A session post screening. Don't worry, men are allowed into the screening!
Further local highlights include the Sing Australia Vincentia Choir featured in Valley of Shadows, co-writer and production on Kelly's Blues, production design on 4 music videos and many other cast and crew members throughout the festival.
