The SAFC extends an invitation to the SA Industry to be part of the following FilmLab workshop event:

Made as part of Film London's micro-budget film initiative Microwave,feature film Shifty directed by Eran Creevy will screen this Wednesday night.
Microwave challenges filmmakers to shoot a full length feature for up to £100,000, just as FilmLab is currently challenging SA filmmakers to make features for up to $350,000.
Shifty received 5 British Independent Film Awards nominations following its world premiere at The 52nd London Film Festival and was released in the UK in April this year.
Synopsis:
Riz Ahmed (Britz, The Road to Guantanamo, Dead Set) takes the title role of Shifty, a thriller charting an action packed 24 hours in the life of a young crack cocaine dealer on the outskirts of London. The sudden return home of his best friend sets in motion a chain of events that see Shifty's life quickly spiral out of control. Stalked by a customer desperate to score at all costs, and with his family about to turn their back on him for good, Shifty must out-run and out-smart a rival drug dealer intent on setting him up. As his long time friend Chris, played by Daniel Mays (The Bank Job, Atonement, Plus One), confronts the dark
past he left behind him, Shifty is forced to face up to the violent future he's hurtling towards. BAFTA-nominee and acclaimed stage and screen actress Francesca Annis (Revolver, The Libertine) also stars.
