Popcorn Taxi presents Cedar Boys
July 12th 2009 05:39
This one off screening will be held on Monday 27 July at Greater Union Bondi Junction and tickets are now on sale at www.popcorntaxi.com.au.
Popcorn Taxi is proud to present the gritty, urban thriller /Cedar Boys./ Tarek (Les Chantery-Righteous Kill/) is a young Lebanese-Australian panel beater living at home with his parents and little sister. He longs to escape the west and set up his own workshop in a more desirable postcode. After an introduction to the underworld, the temptation of a heist with high rewards is too good for Tarek to refuse. As his jailed brother's appeal stalls due to a lack of funds and the upper class girl of his dreams, Amie (Rachel Taylor --Transformers), comes within arms reach, it seems he has the perfect solution.
When the criminals they rip off (Martin Henderson - Smokin' Aces and Daniel Amalm -Two fists, One Heart) seek revenge, Tarek and his pals find themselves trapped in a deadly game.
Real, raw and coming directly from an insider's perspective, Serhat Caradee's film is fuelled by cars, music, racial tension and sex drive. A poignant look at young men under enormous pressure to fit in and experience what they believe to be 'the good life'.
This special Popcorn Taxi screening will be followed by a live audience Q&A with writer-director Serhat Caradee. Cedar Boys is Caradee's first feature film and his short films have screened at numerous international film festivals collecting several awards.
Caradee will be joined on the stage by stars Les Chantery, Waddah Sari and Buddy Dannoun.
