*POPCORN TAXI PRESENTS MOON*
September 16th 2009 01:38
Popcorn Taxi is proud to present the first Sydney screening of the highly anticipated sci-fi thriller, 'Moon'. The film will be followed by an exclusive audience with director Duncan Jones, son of musician/artist David Bowie, down the line from London.
'Moon' is classic sci-fi at its best. Set in the near future, we join astronaut Sam Bell,
played by Sam Rockwell, who's stationed at the Moon base Sarang. Bell is about to
complete a three-year contract with Lunar Industries mining helium, the Earth's main
source of energy. It's a lonely job, made all the more difficult by a broken satellite,
which restricts all communication to Earth to a series of taped messages.
With only three weeks remaining before his return to Earth, Bell will soon be reunited
with his wife, Tess, and three-year-old daughter, Eve. His only company during his time
on the Moon has been Gerty, the base's well-intentioned computer, which sounds an awful
lot like Kevin Spacey.
But with the end in sight, Bell suddenly starts to hallucinate that he is not alone. Is
it a clone, a figment of his imagination or something else?
With a stellar performance from Sam Rockwell, Duncan Jones' directorial debut will keep
you guessing right until the very last minute.
