Project Greenlight film's theatrical release

October 22nd 2008 00:30
The View From Greenhaven is the first feature film written and directed by Simon and Kenn MacRae, and it will be a dream come true for the brothers when it makes its world premiere next week, released by Movie Network Channels.

As winners of Movie Extra’s 2006 Project Greenlight Australia filmmaking competition (from a series format originally developed by actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck), The MacRae Brothers were awarded a$1 million prize to develop their first feature film. The result of that funding is The View From Greenhaven, a sentimental and visually beautiful film about rediscovering why life is made for living.

The film reunites on screen the once-married co-stars Wendy Hughes and Chris Haywood for the first time in 30 years, with their last film together being 1978’s Newsfront. Both stars will walk the red carpet at next Thursday’s world premiere for The View From Greenhaven at the Hayden Orpheum in Sydney. They will also appear on stage for a special live intro to the screening, “Angela Bishop in conversation with Wendy Hughes and Chris Haywood.”

In Greenhaven, Hughes and Haywood play a retired couple living in an idyllic coastal town who have the perfect lifestyle - but Dash, the husband, is just too grumpy to see it. On their wedding anniversary their daughter and son-in-law surprise them with a mystery train tour. But Dash’s lack of enthusiasm and negativity has Dot losing faith in him, so with their marriage in jeopardy, Dash is forced to start trying to view their lives through fresh eyes…and being confronted with something from his past may just help them out.

The Producer for The View From Greenhaven is Martin Brown, whose earlier credits include the Academy Award winning Moulin Rouge.

The View From Greenhaven is a Screentime production for Movie Extra. Distributed by Movie Network Channels.
