RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL 2009

The 16th annual Raindance Film Festival is set to explode this year with a sensational line up of Domestic and International films throughout the two week event.
Once again a well respected line up of international guests has been invited to judge the films in competition at this years festival and once again the judging wont be easy. The jury consists of Academy Award® winning director Peter Capaldi, Oli Harbottle ex producer of Raindance, Kim Newman Journalist and Film Critic, Rebecca O’Brien winner of the Palme d’Or in Cannes 2006, world renowned director Nicolas Roeg, Joe Utichi – editor of Rotten Tomatoes and Adam Yauch of hip hop trio Beastie Boys.
To recognise the outstanding achievements of the filmmakers showcased at the 16th Raindance Film Festival in 2008, a number of jury prizes will be awarded. The winners will be announced before the screening of the Closing Night Film HUSH at the Cineworld Trocadero on Sunday 12 October at 7:30PM. The nominees are:

New this year to the festival, this Award will be given to the best feature film at the Festival selected by the audience.
UK SHORT
Best UK Short Film Award - 2 return tickets to the US designed to give UK filmmakers the opportunity to attend screenings of their film in US festivals.
DAILYMOTION SHORT CIRCUIT AWARD
The Short Circuit Award is a new short film competition to search for budding new talent. Filmmakers upload their 60 second short films to the Dailymotion website, where they will be judged by a panel of industry professionals. Winner announced Wednesday 8th October at the Rex Cinema in London. Visit www.dailymotion.com.
SAE DIGITAL SHORT FILM AWARD
The SAE Digital Short Film Award is chosen from a strict rule of criteria - the film must have been entirely shot and edited using only digital means of production and must demonstrate a unique approach to filmmaking utilising new digital technology.

FILM OF THE FESTIVAL [SHORT]
For the fifth year running the Film of the Festival Award will be announced . Last year’s award went to UK filmmaker Tom Tagholm (“About de Truffe”).Diesel,supported Tom’s win by funding his project to produce the 16th Raindance Film Festival trailer, which can be seen at www.raindance.co.uk. This year’s award is supported by the Independent Film Trust.
