Raindance opens in London.

The 15th annual; Raindance film Festival which also spawned the British Independant Film Awards in 1998 opens today September 25.
The Raindance Film Festival is the largest independent film festival in the United Kingdom. The festival was established in 1992 to celebrate and support independent filmmaking and has gone on to feature such successes as Pulp Fiction, The Blair Witch Project, Capturing the Friedmans, Memento, Oldboy, Steve Balderson's Firecracker, Girlfriend in a Kimono, and End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones.
The UK's largest independent film festival will this week become the first to simultaneously show its movies via the web after doing a deal with broadband provider Tiscali to make six of its films available to all via the web at the same time as they premiere in London cinemas.
All films will be available after 9pm on the day that they are shown.
Raindance also hosts a series of events. At one, aspiring film makers will pitch ideas to a panel of film grandees, including Jury members for the 2007 festival which will includeMick Jones of The Clash, and Iggy Pop, directors Andrea Arnold and Penny Woolcock, cinematographers Brian Tufano and Jonathan Harvey, critics Anthony Quinn of The Independent and Joe Utichi of Rotten Tomatoes, broadcasters Davide Scalenghe of Current TV and Tessa Ross of Channel 4, and producers Oli Harbottle of Dogwoof Pictures, Jemma Rodgers of Junction Films, Edward King of MySpace and Sandy Leiberson as well as festival patrons including Ewan McGregor, Terry Gilliam, Mike Figgis, Ken Loach, and Marky Ramone
The 2007 festival runs from 25th September until the 7th October
