Rhode Island call out and KIds EYE

Early Bird entries have now closed for this years Rhode Island International Film Festival set for August 4 - 9 2009 and Film entries are still coming in at a fast pace.
So far, the submissions are 28% up on last year with some amazing work submitted. With organisers now working frantically to build an even better festival than last year ,as planning locks in place, you will see a multitude of changes uploaded on the official website.
Speaking of which, the RIIFF website had a record 5.6 million hits last year, up from 4.2
million the year before and looks towards continued growth and success as this years festival closes in.
”While all of us face challenges this year, the attitude at RIIFF has been to look for the opportunities, be proactive and move forward to make this the best Festival ever.” said George T. Marshall,
Festival Executive Director.
Deadlines: Regular: May 15, 2009; Late: June 1, 2009
Extended Deadline: June 15, 2009
And while films continue to arrive and preparations continue, RIIFF announced their upcoming events in the lead up to this years festival. Following last years successful Oscars preview party, the team have decided to put it all together once again.
Join the Rhode Island International Film Festival for their second annual "Friends and Family" preview party. Held prior to this year's Academy Awards, they will be screening the nominated films that have hailed from RIIFF along with some new arrivals that could be next year's nominees.
Food, film and refreshments are included in the recommended donation of $20.

Another event coming up later in the year is the 2009 KIDSEYE FILMMAKING CAMP
Now accepting applications,it's a five-day summer camp held at the beautiful campus of the
University or Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island. KidsEye exposes young people to the basic elements of the filmmaking process, culminating in a premiere screening of their finished films.KidsEye™ is a fun yet intensive five-day filmmaking camp for children ages 8-16 presented by the Rhode Island International Film Festival™.This summer the KidsEye™ camp will take place July 6-10, 2009
