ROOFTOP call to alms.
December 21st 2009 04:07
If you havent done all your Xmas shopping heres a good idea! These guys alwaysmanage to put together a great season of films and entertainment, so if you live in New York or nearby, pop in and check them out. Or donate and get the tote and a couple of tickets as part of your tourist trip. Something different to the usual visit.
We don't have to tell you that the Rooftop Films Summer Series is a truly unique event. The fusion of film, music, and extraordinary outdoor settings speaks for itself. What you may not know is that Rooftop Films is a non-profit organization and works year-round, not only to plan for the next year's festival, but also to serve as an unparalleled resource to New York filmmakers, film fans, and the community.
In the off-season, we continue to host screenings, teach film to students at New York City public schools, rent our equipment at low cost to other non-profits, and produce new and exciting films via the Rooftop Filmmakers' Fund.
Viva La Rooftop: If you want to see Rooftop Films continue to live and thrive in 2010, please spread the love back to us with a tax deductible donation today. We're working year-round for you. We need you too!
"When I think of the film community, Rooftop is the first thing to comes to mind. They are a tremendous force for the creation and exhibition of groundbreaking American independent film, and there is no other organization as loyal to filmmakers. Our films would not exist without them. Period."
Dan Janvey (Co-Producer, Glory at Sea; 2009 Rooftop Films & Eastern Effects Filmmakers' Fund recipient)
