Snow White and the Huntsman. Kristen goes into the woods!

November 8th 2011 01:03
Move over GI JANE and LARA CROFT. There's a new chick in town. She's hot, and tougher than Johnny Rambo. Or that's what they hope you will believe!

With the studios struggling to find an original idea from all those scripts that keep landing on their desks, Universal has decided to go ahead and bastardise an all time childrens classic fairytale.

Snow White and the Huntsman, a new epic action-adventure from Universal Pictures, has now begun production at Pinewood Studios.

The crew has started to construct some fantastic sets on the Studios’ backlot, as well as on some of its world famous stages.

In the film, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the one girl threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.

The breathtaking new vision of the legendary tale is from Joe Roth, the producer of Alice in Wonderland, producer Sam Mercer (The Sixth Sense) and acclaimed commercial director and state-of-the-art visualist Rupert Sanders (Halo 3 campaign).

Really Long Link

Andrew Smith, Group Corporate Affairs Director at Pinewood, commented: “We’re delighted to be hosting Universal once again for its latest project, Snow White and the Hunstman. The sets and costumes look fantastic, and I am continually struck by the talented and skilled craftsmen and women currently working in the UK film industry. Pinewood is committed to maintaining its status as a centre of excellence for skills and training, and this is a central theme of the Studios’ plans for Project Pinewood. Locating the new Screen Crafts Academy at Project Pinewood adjacent to the Studios would give students an opportunity to experience a world-class filming environment and learn first-hand from the best in the business.”

So will this frolic in the forest wih K S steaming up the screen be a hit or will it sink into the Fen never to be mentioned in polite circles ever again. Well we will have to wait til next year to find out.
