2008 SPAA Fringe is proud to announce the World Premiere of Hairtales, the entertaining and irreverent story of people whose lives have been changed forever through hair.

Hairtales directed by Scott Anderson & Cath Moore and produced by Oliver Lawrance, is an intimate and strange portrait of 12 individuals whose personal and professional lives have been changed forever through hair. From a prized corset made entirely out of dreadlocks to a hair-growth specialist convinced that bald men are accident prone; Hairtales is a series of interconnected strands where tears & trauma, hope & hilarity are all tangled up to create an amusing and unique insight into how hair can impact on people’slives.

Their latest collaboration is a one-hour MTV drama called Dream Life directed by Anderson, shot by Lawrance and produced by award-winning Porchlight Films and will be completed in November 2008

Hairtales will premiere at SPAA Fringe on Friday 24th Oct at 11.30am and shortly after, at 3.15pm, filmmakers Anderson and Lawrance will speak about the creative and development process they went through to create the film.

Also joining the doco strand is Marcus Gillezeau, producer of the big wave surfing thriller, Storm Surfers; Janine Hosking, director/producer of the recent feature length ‘behind the scenes’ doco on the

controversial Schapelle Corby drug trial conducted in Bali, Ganja Queen; and Anna Broinowski director of Forbidden Lie$, which will be screening at SPAA Fringe on Friday 24 Oct at 1.45pm.

SPAA Fringe is a forum for emerging producers and filmmakers to gain knowledge, be inspired and evoke innovation within the film industry with over two jam packed days of workshops, roundtables, one-on-one sessions, panel discussions, film screenings and social networking events. An opportunity not to be missed!
