Sydney Film Festival announces new festival guests

Sydney Film Festival is delighted to announce additional guests attending the Festival who will be walking the red carpet and also participating in the free talks program. Audiences are invited to participate in lively discussions with the filmmakers following their screenings, exchanging ideas and thoughts on the process of making films. In-depth discussions will cover topics from genre filmmaking to working with some of the world’s best directors, actors, producers and cinematographers.
Newly announced international festival guests include:
Julie Bertucelli (Director, The Tree – screening in Official Competition)
Julie Bertucelli started her film career as an assistant director, working with acclaimed directors such as Krzysztof Keislowski, Bertrand Tavernier, Otto Iosseliani and Emmanuel Finkiel. She has also directed several highly regarded documentaries. Her feature debut, Since Otar Left went on to win several major awards including the Grand Prize at Critics Week, at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004 and a Cesar Award for Best First Film. The Tree screened as Closing Night film at Cannes Film Festival 2010.
Marton Csokas (Actor, South Solitary – Opening Night; The Tree – screening Official Competition)
Originially from New Zealand, where his impressive career commenced with roles on Shortland Street and Xena: Princess Warrior, Marton Csokas acting credits include Alice in Wonderland, The Bourne Supremacy, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He received an AFI Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2007 for Romulus, My Father.
Shirley Henderson (Actor, Life During Wartime – screening in Official Competition)
Amongst Scottish actress Shirley Henderson’s many celebrated screen performances are roles in Trainspotting, 24 Hour Party People, the Harry Potter series (as Moaning Myrtle) and Marie Antoinette. She has just finished shooting Michael Winterbottom’s Seven Days and is soon to appear in Kelly Reichardt’s Meek’s Cutoff
Daniel Mitulescu (Producer, If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle – screening in Official Competition)
Daniel Mitulescu is a producer based in Bucharest, Romania. His first film The Way I Spent The End Of The World received the NHK-Sundance Award for Best European Project in 2005, was presented in Un Certain Regard at Cannes 2006 where it received the best Actress Award and was the Romanian submission for the Academy Awards 2007, screening in over 30 film festivals worldwide.
Kayvan Novak (Actor, Four Lions – screening in Official Competition)
Kayvan Novak works extensively across film and television with feature film roles in the multi Award-winning Syriana and The Blue Tower. Kayvan is currently following up his 2008 BAFTA Award-winning comedy series Fonejacker for Channel 4 (UK), which he also wrote and created, with a new accompanying series called Facejacker. His other key roles in television include parts in Judge John Deed, Trial and Retribution VII, She’s Gone, Spooks III and The Government Inspector.
Greg Olliver (Co-Director, Producer, Director of Photography, Editor – Lemmy – screening Sounds on Screen)
Greg has worked with artists including Motorhead, Joan Jett, Snoop Dogg, Carmen Electra, Dale Earnhardt Jr, The NY Rangers, Pro Skater Mike Vallely and has built a reputation as a great on-stage cinematographer. His current feature doc project is the rock-and-roll epic Lemmy.
Wes Orshoski (Co-Director, Producer – Lemmy – screening Sounds on Screen)
Wes Orshoski is a New York-based writer, photographer and filmmaker whose photography and/or writing has appeared in Rolling Stone, Mojo, Billboard, Relix, The Source, Paste and NME, among others. He has just completed co-directing/producing a theatrical documentary on Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister.
George Pistereanu (Actor, If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle – screening in Official Competition)
George Pistereanu is only 19 and when the filming of If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle took place he was attending the acting section at Dinu Lipatti High School, where he was discovered by director Florin Serban. George is now a first year student at the National University of Theatre and Film from Bucharest
