AFTRS graduate Benjamin Speed picks up a win for his work on The Cat Piano
Congratulations to AFTRS Screen Music graduate Benjamin Speed who composed the original music for animated short The Cat Piano. The film picked up the 2009 Yoram Gross Animation Award at the recent 2009 Dendy Awards. The Cat Piano was directed by Eddie White and Ari Gibson, produced by Jessica Brentnall and narrated by Nick Cave.
The Cat Piano will also be screening in competition at the Academy Accredited LAshortsfest.
Here are the details of the screening:
Program #12
Saturday, July 25th, 5:30pm
Laemmle Sunset 5 Theatres
8000 Sunset Blvd.
West Hollywood
The film also recently screened at the Annecy Festival. Here's what the creators had to say on the blog about the experience.
'The film's screenings at Annecy went great. It was really cool to see a 35mm film copy of it up there on the big screen. It was certainly not a cheap process but worth every cent. The film was screened seven times at the festival, twice in the giant Bonlieu theatre as part of the short film competition programm. Judging from the meows and reows coming from the audience in between the following films, it felt like the film went down a treat with the audience.'
