SYNOPSIS:
It is Northern France and the swinging sixties are well underway. While mankind is landing on the moon, a young girl becomes a woman and learns that life on earth can prove to be just as alien as those famous first steps. After fleeing to France to forget her boyfriend; first his letters pursue her, then he himself follows her there. During a party to celebrate the moon landing she takes her own small step...

REVIEW: This short film starring the gorgeous Talulah Riley (St Trinian’s, The Boat That Rocked) as Jane and today’s heartthrob Robert Pattinson (Twilight) as Richard could be mistaken for an attempt to cash in on the Twilight phenomena, but that is definitely not the case as the majority of the film concentrates on Jane’s dilemma.

At times the script feels a bit forced and unless you focus your concentration for the duration of this short film, it can be easy to miss important details to guide the story. On first viewing it seems that young Jane has gone away to visit her aunt for a summer break, and it isn’t until the second viewing that you realise exactly what is going on.

Patterson turns up out of the blue and gets straight to the point although his time on the screen is a little too brief to satisfy his legions of fans out there, but you can be assured that just the smallest amount of screen time will still guarantee a huge internet audience.

The supporting cast is fine, the direction is kept plain and simple although the metaphorical usage of the lunar landing was lost on this viewer. One small step.......?

A little better background rather than the rush that takes place to get to the stable scenes would have enhanced the plot a little better, but overall, this short film is enjoyable even without any real chemistry between the two leads.

RANKING 6/10
