We hope you have made your reservations for
LAKE PLACID FILM FORUM 2008.
We promise you’re in for a great time when you come to the Forum to meet the
prestigious guests, see award winning films, and participate in forums and
master classes.
One of the most exciting events will feature the second annual
“Sleepless In Lake Placid”
24 hour student filmmaking competition.
Shaped in accordance with the Forum’s educational mission, the filmmaking
contest focuses on the educational experience involved in making a short film
within a drastically circumscribed time-frame and certain parameters set out
by the rules.
Five Area colleges and universities with film programs have been invited to
put together teams of up to five student filmmakers. On the morning of the
first day, these teams will meet and will be presented with a concept and a
list of required elements for the films. At noon, the clock starts ticking and
teams have 24 hours to conceptualize, script, shoot, edit and deliver a DVD of
a film no longer than ten minutes. Teams will shoot their films in locations
in and around Lake Placid. On Saturday evening at 7 P.M. the finished films
will be screened at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts where a jury of
industry professionals will evaluate each film. The first place winning team will
be awarded The Robin Pell Emerging Filmmakers Award. The audience will also
be able to vote for their favorite film and the winner of the Audience Choice
Award will also be announced.
