THIS WEEKEND - BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL.
November 9th 2009 14:00
Celebrating the humble bicycle in all its wheeled and wonderful forms, the festival travels to 37 cities worldwide and showcases global cycling culture through five days of art, music and film in Sydney.
The three-day film programme (Nov 13-15 at Chauvel) is the centerpiece of the festival, with brand new short and feature films from the US, Italy, France, Spain, UK, Canada, Japan and Switzerland. Over the years, the festival has featured the work of established artists such as Jorgen Leth, Mike Mills and Michel Gondry, as well as a host of talented newcomers, and 2009 is no different.
This global collection of personal narratives, animations, documentaries and interviews all have one thing in common – bicycles – and tell a diverse range of human stories: from tales of passionate craftsmanship and cross-cultural sharing, to epic journeys and acid-fuelled psychedelic trips.
Check out the full programme of events, including the Bikes Rock opening party at the Factory Theatre on Nov 11, featuring Bridezilla, Jonathan Boulet, Deep Sea Arcade and Lions at your Door.
