Sony Tropfest - call for entries 08!

Sony Tropfest and their partners have announced entry is now open for the 2008 festival. This year, for the first time, all Sony Tropfest entry forms will be accepted online.
ENTRY DEADLINE: Jan 10, 2008
START: Feb 17, 2008 END: Feb 17, 2008
WHERE: Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra, Brisbane & Perth National
With just over three months until the 10th January 2008 entry deadline, filmmakers are urged to get cracking! They are also reminded that films should be no longer than seven minutes, and must include the Tropfest Signature Item (TSI), which for 2008 is the number ‘8’. Anyone can enter regardless of their background or filmmaking experience. Filmmakers will compete for one of 16 Finalist spots, more than $80,000 worth of prizes, and a chance to premiere their films at the world’s largest short film festival.
Sony Tropfest 2008 will take place on Sunday 17th February 2008. Now in its 16th year, Sony Tropfest is broadcast nationally via simultaneous satellite screenings in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and a host of regional Australian locations – attracting an audience of more than 150,000 people on a single night.
Bringing together filmmakers, film buffs, friends and family in a casual, outdoor setting this unique short film festival is one of the biggest Australian cultural events of the year. The festival program features a full afternoon of entertainment including live music and MCs. In the evening, we roll out the red carpet for celebrity judges and VIP guests, followed by the much anticipated finalist screenings and awards ceremony.
In Sydney and Melbourne, food and beverages will be available for purchase onsite, and exclusive Tropfest picnic hampers can be pre-ordered online for pick up on the day. More info will be available soon, so mark your calendars and sign up for regular TropNews festival updates at www.tropfest.com.
