TROPFEST ENTRIES NOW CLOSED!
January 20th 2009 06:21
Entry for this years TROPFEST and TROPFEST JR have closed and the judges are sifting through the myriad of entries with short listed finalists to be notified on the 26th of January . With just over a month until the 17th edition of the worlds largest short film festival, we can only guess what surprises will be in store come Sunday February 22. Having attended around 10 of the last 16 festivals, this is one event that I can assure you gets bigger and better every year.
The grounds open once again at midday in Sydney’s Domain with entertainment and activities for all the family running throughout the afternoon and into the evening with the official programme beginning at 3pm in the main arena.
With the success of last years TROPFEST JR, the team at TROPINC are once again looking forward to presenting a sample of what our junior filmmakers have on offer. TROPJR is also, like last year looking to go green with environmental products being made available for free throughout the Domain. Last years TROPJR had an environmental theme throughout and this year the team hopes to expand that notion throughout. This year 12 finalist films will be selected to screen between 1 and 3 pm just outside the main screening area before the activities move into the centre of the domain for the pre show entertainment and the 16 senior TROPFEST short films.
Another first for TROPFEST is the TROPSCORE competition where over 120 entries were received for this year’s festival. Like some other recent short film festivals, TROPFEST is well aware of the importance of music in film and are giving someone the chance to realise their dreams. Find out February 22 who might just be the next John Williams.
For all the kids there are 5 Bakugan Battle Brawlers packs to win just by writing in 25 words or less the kind of film you would like to make with the Bakugan characters. Entries can be sent to mail@tropjr.com.au.
Don’t forget to also head over to the Lancer Super short series to check out the latest from previous Tropfest winners and finalist in the lead up to this years big event. You have the chance to vote for your favourite film and also go into the runningto win a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer. That’s one way to beat the credit crunch.
Another of this years sponsors is also on the lookout for short film ideas. What would you do with a 20,000 budget and a professional film crew by your side? John Jameson is looking for 3 short films that have an unexpected ending. Last years films are available on Really Long Link and entries are open until March 9 2009.
