WANT FREE TICKETS IN NEW YORK!

June 20th 2009 07:45
Hi to all you out film lovers out there. I have an offer for someone in New York to attend press screening and write a review for me for the blog. Later I may also need someone in L.A. as well.

I am building a new film site which will be launched in Late July, and am looking for US based film reviewers and others interested in film history to come on board.

At present I have a publicity company based in New York and Los Angeles inviting me to attend screenings in Park Avenue and The Lower East Side, Manhattan. As I am based in Sydney Australia, this can prove a little difficult with the commute.

While you wont get any money for writing the review, you will get a byline and a free film screening, maybe even a drink.

Also , there are film premieres as well including one coming up on June 26. These events also usually include drinks after the screenings, so not only do you get to see the film for free, you attend a gala evening and get a cheap night out.

June 26 is the New York premiere of HUMPDAY, a funny but weird film, so you need to get back to me ASAP. As some of these films carry an R rating and the premieres often include alcohol, you will have to be over 21to cover US law requirements.

FRIDAY, June 26. Doors open at 8pm. Films begin at 9PM
11:30PM - 1:00AM: Open Bar at Fontana's courtesy of Radeberger beer
Where: Lower East Side, Manhattan

If you would also like to cover the red carpet and take photographs for the premieres or have someone you could work with as a team in case you are unable to attend a specific screening, that is even better.

The kind of review we are looking for is not necessarily critical. Make it your own. Some weeks you may have two or three screenings, and then you may have nothing for a month.

Have a look at the upcoming films. As you will see there are a minimum of two screenings each film. Usually there are more.

There New York and Los Angeles Film Festivals to cover as well if you would like to attend TRIBECA and LA Film Festival for starters.

Two upcoming screenings are

DEATH IN LOVE

From writer-director Boaz Yakin (FRESH, REMEMBER THE TITANS) comes a provocative psychosexual tale set at the crossroads where family, history and sexuality collide. This shockingly visceral and explicit portrait of a family on the verge of destruction exposes the ties that can so dangerously bind us - erotically, psychologically and
emotionally.

The story follows the tale of two brothers (Josh Lucas and Lukas Haas) who are trying to climb out of the shadows of their Holocaust survivor mother's (Jacqueline Bissset) dark past - and the love affair she conducted with a Nazi doctor while in the camps.

Decades after their mother's experience, which left her blurring the lines between pleasure and pain, the sons' lives still reverberate with the damage. One (Lucas) is a sharp, charming, intensely sexual but loveless con artist working in an exploitive modeling agency, while carrying on a carnally extreme relationship with his boss (Vanessa Kai). The other (Haas) is a brilliant but reclusive pianist unable to venture from the house. But change has come upon the family. The reclusive brother is moving out of his parents' home for the first time; the ambitious brother is about to make a deal with an alluring new business partner (Adam Brody) who promises to jump-start a new life; and their mother finds herself pursued by a treacherous figure from long ago. As duplicity, moral compromise and the ghosts of the past haunt their vivid sexual and emotional relationships, the family careens towards a
shattering catharsis.
