FEATURES:
BLACK ICE – Winner of six Finnish Oscars this tale of jealousy and betrayal will keep you on edge long after you leave the cinema.
BEFORE THE RAINS – Merchant Ivory’s latest instalment is set in colonial India. Aside from the usual themes of ambition and loyalty, this English language debut from acclaimed director Santosh Silvan takes you through a moral maze of lust and betrayal.
BURN AFTER READING – Everyone should by now have seen something about this screwball espionage story created by the Coen Brothers. Rarely do they put a foot wrong and with George Clooney, Frances McDormand, John Malkovich, Tilda Swinton, Richard Jenkins and Brad Pitt headlining look forward to some strange goings on

credituccinis La Rondine - metsite
METROPOLITAN OPERA.

For those of you who can’t get over to New York to attend this year’s Opera season, the Chauvel has the perfect alternative. Beginning January 31 watch Puccini’s La Rondine(G) while you experience the excitement of the Met direct from New York with matinee’s screening over the following two weeks.
Tickets are only $27 which is a lot cheaper than what you would be paying to attend in person.

If you here an American accent don’t be afraid to pop over and say hello. A little insight from a homesick New Yorker might be a welcoming addition to the evening.

Tickets available from www.chauvelcinema.net.au
Or by phoning 1300 306 776.

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the Chauvel Cinematheque screening with the assistance of the National Film and Sound Archive. More details to follow….
